Adding Comments
Comments allow you to add timestamped notes and feedback on specific moments in a flow. This feature is perfect for team collaboration, pointing out issues, or documenting observations at precise points in the recording.
AI Integration: Comments are also accessible to AI coding agents via the FlowLens MCP server, allowing them to understand team discussions and context when debugging flows.

Accessing Comments
- Open any flow from your flow gallery
- In the flow detail view, click the Comments tab in the right panel
- The Comments tab is located alongside the Timeline and Device Info tabs
Adding a Comment
To add a comment at a specific moment in the flow:
- Play or scrub the video to the exact timestamp you want to comment on
- In the Comments tab, you’ll see the current timestamp displayed (e.g.,
1:25) - Type your comment in the text area
- Click Add Comment to save
The video automatically pauses when you start typing, allowing you to focus on writing your comment at the exact moment without missing any action.
Viewing Comments
All comments appear in chronological order in the Comments tab. Each comment shows:
- The timestamp of the recording where the comment was added (e.g.,
1:25) - The comment text
- The author’s name
- Edit and delete actions (if you have permissions)
Jumping to Timestamps
Click on any comment’s timestamp to jump directly to that moment in the video. This makes it easy to review specific points that team members have highlighted.
Refreshing Comments
When collaborating with team members, use the Refresh button at the top of the Comments tab to see the latest comments added by others.
Editing Comments
You can edit your own comments at any time:
- Find your comment in the Comments tab
- Click the Edit button
- Modify the text
- Click Save to update
Note: You can only edit comments you created. Other team members’ comments cannot be edited.
Deleting Comments
Comments can be deleted by:
- The comment author (you can always delete your own comments)
- The project owner (project owners can delete any comment in their project)
To delete a comment:
- Find the comment in the Comments tab
- Click the Delete button
- Confirm the deletion
Comments on Shared Flows
When you share a flow via a public link, comments are read-only for viewers. This allows external stakeholders to understand your team’s observations while keeping the discussion controlled within your team.
AI Coding Agents & Comments
When you integrate FlowLens with AI coding assistants (like Claude, Cursor, or VS Code Copilot) through the FlowLens MCP server, these agents can access and read your flow comments. This enables:
- Context-aware debugging: AI agents can understand what team members observed at specific timestamps
- Enhanced analysis: Comments provide human insights that help AI agents identify patterns and issues
- Collaborative debugging: AI agents can incorporate team discussions into their debugging suggestions
To learn more about setting up AI integration, see the MCP Server Setup documentation.
Best Practices
- Be specific: Reference what you were expecting at that exact timestamp
- Use descriptive text: Help team members and coding agents understand the issue or observation quickly
- Jump to comments: Use comment timestamps to quickly navigate to important moments
- Collaborate: Comments are visible to all project members, making them ideal for team debugging sessions
